Today we updated some parts of the layout, most notably a new about page, as well as the title and description tags of the site. Next things we are on are a sitemap generation and improvements of the dialogs for ie6... :-P
Please help us improving the service by having a look at the project intensitymaps.com and submitting a feedback about what you like/dislike, as well as any ideas or other comments -- either via mail to info@intensitymaps.com or as a comment here on the blog... Thank you very much!

New Updates: Markers on Cities
After another few days of hacking we implemented a number of cool features, most notably the markers dataMode which allows setting markers on cities, representing a respective value. As an image sometimes says more than a thousand words:

This works as well in more detailled region views:

To set the markers-mode, click on "Options" and then you can select "Regions" and "Markers" as "Mode". Give it a try -- and if possible feedback! ;-)

We have been hacking all weekend long to implement and enhance several parts of intensitymaps.com. We are excited about the rapid development and positive feedback!
First of all, we created a few demo videos (which you can find on the front page), briefly showing how to:
New features include the option to set a title for the map, which will be displayed as the html-pagetitle. Also the public and private option now easily let's you choose which presentations to share with the world, and which to keep private.
Another new element helps anonymous users keep track of the maps they have been viewing (they are now listed in the "Manage Maps" page under "Recently Viewed").
If not logged in, the map receives a new filename every time it is saved. To be able to overwrite an existing map, users need to log in either via openid, or a local login.
We sure enjoy improving intensitymaps.com, and appreciate any kind of feedback!

Beta Preview
These days we finished the first prototype of intensitymaps.com and released it on www.intensitymaps.com. This site allows users to create and share intensitymaps which can be easily embedded on blogs, homepages and presentations.
The basic functionality is out there, but is by far not complete. A number of components and features will be added over the coming days... and of course posted here. We apprecciate any feedback, as we strive to make the tool as good and easy to use as possible, and at this early stage we are able to implement new ideas quickly and with little effort. If you would have a look at the project and take a moment to post a quick comment, that would be so awesome! :-)
Oh right, I almost forgot to say: the site lacks good support for IE at the moment, but we are working on that :-P
